How to Make Snoop Dogg Fried Chicken

You probably never thought you would see the famous rapper having a line of fried chicken. But that day is finally here, and the Snoop Doggs Fried Chicken has already won the hearts of many.

It is a simple and extremely delicious meal made of marinated chicken and crispy potato chips. You’re missing out if you’ve been making your fried chicken the other way.

But it’s not just chicken and chips, either. Here’s what else is required.

Ingredients:

(6 servings)

  • 4 pounds of chicken wings
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup kosher salt
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 orange peel
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup crushed potato chips
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 quart of canola oil
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne
  • ½ tsp of baking powder
  • 2 tsp of black pepper
  • 2 tsp salt

Instructions

You will fall in love with the Snopp Dogg Fried Chicken with the first bite since no one can resist a crunchy fried chicken dish with a twist

It’s all about the marinate and crispy chips. This pairing makes the chicken tender inside but crunchy on the outside.

We’ll guide you to this crispy goodness step by step to replicate this famous Snood Dogg recipe with no fuss.

Step 1:

Pour 5 cups of water into a large pot and boil over high heat. Then add red pepper flakes, orange peel, sugar, salt, and bay leaf. Stir it for a minute, so the sugar and salt dissolve.

Take the mixture off the heat and let it cool.

Step 2:

Place your chicken in a bowl and cover it with brine. Then discard the brine and set the chicken aside.

The chicken should then be removed from the brine and dried with a paper towel. Chicken should be taken out of the brine and set aside.

Step 3:

Stir the cornmeal, garlic powder, salt, crushed potato chips, baking powder, black pepper, cayenne, and salt. Transfer to a shallow dish and add buttermilk to another shallow dish next to the flour mixture.

Place a wire rack or pan in front of two dishes where you’ll place the battered chicken.

Step 4:

One wing should be placed in buttermilk and let soak. Removing any excess, pour it back into the dish. Thoroughly coat the chicken wings with the flour mixture.

Repeat the procedure with the remaining chicken, then place them on the wire rack or pan to dry for 20 – 30 minutes.

Step 5:

Heat the canola oil to 350°F in a large Dutch oven. Place the wire rack over a plate or a lined pan with brown paper.

Step 6:

Add a chicken wing to the hot oil in batches, not to crown them since they can become greasy. There will be a reduction in temperature after the chicken is added. So monitor the heat to maintain it at 350°F.

Step 7:

Fry each chicken piece for about 8-10 minutes until golden brown. Then remove each with tongs and place them on a rack to drain.

Serve generously sprinkled with salt and any of your favorite dips.

Ingredient Substitution

One thing you always have to nourish when it comes to cooking is interest. Don’t be afraid to experiment with the ingredients of the Tha Dogg Fried Chicken recipe.

If you don’t have something new, use the ingredients in your pantry. This fried chicken will come out great, anyway.

1. Wheat Flour

Corn meal is not that common in one’s kitchen. So you can use a non-corn substitute instead. Coarse what flour works the best. It is an all-purpose substitute that works for all recipes and serves the same cooking purpose.

Besides, it has a similar texture to cornmeal. However, for the most accurate results, you must replace cornmeal with wheat flour by weight, not volume.

2. Milk + Lemon Juice

The most common replacement for buttermilk is milk mixed with lemon juice. Just pair milk with lemon juice to make a quick and reliable buttermilk hack.

Squeeze 1 tablespoon of lemon juice into a measuring cup and pour enough whole milk until it measures 1 cup. Stir to combine and use in this easy recipe.

What to Serve with Snoop Dogg Fried Chicken

What initially comes to mind when searching for the ideal fried chicken wings pairing? Some dipping sauce, isn’t it?

While the tangy and savory hot sauce gives you a nice contrast to the texture of the chicken wings, there are plenty of other sides to consider

Mac and Cheese

We all love things that are both delicious and effortless to put together. So, regarding side dishes, mac and cheese is an incredibly delicious classic for a good reason.

The combination of juicy and crispy chicken and velvety cheese pasta is perfect.

Potato Salad

Potato salad is probably one of the most common sides to pair with wings since it complements them nicely. This salad is rich and filling. Correspondingly, the combination of cold potato and hot wings gives a nice contrast.

How to Reheat Snoop Dogg Fried Chicken

Most people don’t like leftover fried chicken wings since they don’t know how to reheat them properly. We’ll teach you how to reheat fried chicken wings without drying them out or turning them into a rubbery mess.

Reheat Snoop Dogg Fried Chicken in an Oven

An oven is the best for reheating chicken wings since it keeps them crispy and juicy inside. Preheat an oven to 350°F, spray a sheet pan with a cooking spray and arrange the wings on a pan in a single layer.

Reheat your wings for 5-6 minutes on each side.

The other option is an air fryer. You also have to preheat it to 350°F. Then spritz the wings with oil and nestle them in the basket. Heat the wings in an air fryer for about 10 minutes. But check them every few minutes not to overheat.

How to Store Snoop Dogg Fried Chicken

Knowing how to store chicken wings properly can minimize food waste and allow you to enjoy your wings longer.

Store Snoop Dogg Fried Chicken in the Fridge

Place your chicken wings in an airtight container before storing them and toss them in the coldest part of the fridge. The chicken will stay fresh for 3-4 days as a result.

Store Snoop Dogg Fried Chicken in the Freezer

Freezing chicken wings is an option if you store them promptly after cooking. Please don’t allow them to sit in the fridge first. Seal the wings in an airtight container or wrap them in a freezer bag.

Use them within six months of freezing since the texture and taste deteriorate over time.
