Equipment
  • 2 Bowls
  • bundt pans
  • 1 Oven
Ingredients

For the roll:
  • 3 tbsp butter unsalted
  • 1 cup whole milk warm
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • TT salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
For the frosting:
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese softened
  • 1 tbsp butter unsalted
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
Instructions

  • Starting with the rolls, preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • We first need to mix the batter. Using a large bowl combine the butter, milk, and honey together and stir thoroughly. The honey should be completely dissolved.
  • Add the salt and yeast to the mixture first. Follow that up by adding the egg and flour, then mix everything until all the ingredients are combined. It should be a smooth batter with no noticeable graininess to it.
  • Spoon the mixture into the bundt pans. If you don’t have bundt pans you can use any small cake, bread, or pie trays you might have around as an alternative.
  • Cover the tins to stop them from drying out, and also protect them from dust. A simple kitchen towel works well for this or plastic wrap is also a good alternative.
Allow them to rise for 30 minutes.
  • Once ready, place all the pans in the oven and allow to cook for 15 minutes. A good way to check they are done is to insert a toothpick into the roll, if it comes out clean then it means the mixture has been cooked all the way through and they are ready.
  • While the rolls are rising/cooking, we can prepare the frosting. Start by combining the cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar into a small bowl and start mixing everything together.
  • Once the rolls have finished baking, leave them to cool for a bit. Otherwise, the heat will warm the icing up and make it drip off the edges.
  • Spoon the frosting over the top and let it run down the sides a little to give it that delicious, dessert look and style.
Pro tip: sometimes, after the mixture has risen the top of the pan (which becomes the bottom of the roll once flipped) it won't be completely even, making them not sit flat on your plate. So, after they have cooked, and before spooning the frosting on, you can cut a thin layer off the bottom of the roll to allow it to sit flat.
