3tbspsticky rice powder (made from toasted glutinous rice)
3tbspfish sauce
2tbspfresh lime juice (or to taste)
1tbspoil
1tspsugar
1/2 - 1tspchili powderadjust to your heat tolerance
1/2 - 1tspchili flakesoptional
Instructions
If you're using whole beef steak or other whole cuts of meat, slice it thinly and then chop it into small, minced pieces using a sharp knife or food processor. For ground meat, set it aside.
In a large skillet or wok, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced meat and cook, stirring frequently, for 6-7 minutes or until cooked through and lightly browned.
In a separate bowl, combine the sticky rice powder, fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, chili powder, and chili flakes (if using) and whisk well until the sugar is dissolved.
Add the cooked meat to the mixing bowl with the seasoning mixture. Toss well to combine, ensuring that each piece of meat is well-coated with the flavors.
Finely chop the mint leaves, cilantro leaves, and green onions. Stir them into the meat mixture, along with any optional ingredients you choose to add.
Taste the Laotian Meat Salad and adjust the flavors according to your preferences. You might want to add more lime juice, fish sauce, or chili powder to suit your taste buds.
Finally, place the meat salad onto a serving plate. You can serve it with lettuce leaves and raw vegetables, allowing guests to form their own lettuce wraps or simply enjoy the salad on its own.
