Equipment
  • 1 Large saucepan
Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 1/2 cup diced carrot
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine optional
Instructions

  • In a large saucepan or skillet, cook ground beef, pork, diced onion, celery, carrot, and minced garlic over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onion is translucent.
Make sure to break up the meat while cooking.
  • Once the meat is browned, carefully drain and discard any excess fat from the pan.
  • Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomatopaste, salt, and pepper.
  • Increase heat to medium-high and bring the sauce mixture to a boil, ensuring the ingredients are well-mixed.
  • Once boiling, reduce heat to low and stir in the red wine and beef broth.
Adjust salt and pepper if necessary.
  • Allow the Bolognese sauce to simmer on low heat for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
The longer the sauce cooks, the richer the flavor will be.
