Halal Guys Yellow Rice Recipe

Halal Guys’ yellow rice has such a vibrant color and aroma. It's the rice I use any time I'm making an international cuisine that uses rice!
The secret to that signature golden hue is turmeric, and I like to use just enough to keep the balance right.
Cooking the rice in chicken stock instead of water adds richness, so don’t skip that!
What I enjoy about this recipe is how the rice soaks up the spices, becoming fragrant without being overwhelming.
Be sure to toast the spices in the butter before adding the rice; it brings out their full potential trust me!

Ingredients
  
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 0.5 tsp Turmeric
  • 1.5 cups Basmati Rice
  • 2.5 cups Chicken Broth
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions
 
  • Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat.
  • Add cumin and turmeric to the pan, stirring until they become fragrant.
  • Rinse the basmati rice until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  • Add the rice to the pan and stir until it's coated with the butter and spices.
  • Pour in the chicken broth, then add salt and pepper.
  • Cover the pan, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked.
  • Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes to finish steaming.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
