  • pumpkin spice, a sprinkle of cinnamon, a bit of sugar Optional
Instructions

  • Start by preparing the ingredients.
Measure the cream of wheat, water, liquid of choice, and vanilla extract.
If desired, gather the optional pumpkin spice, cinnamon, and a bit of sugar.
Prep time for this is 2 minutes.
  • Add 2 cups water and a pinch of salt to a medium-sized saucepan.
If you want, you can also add almond milk or oat milk as part of the 2 cups liquid.
Place the saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
Allow the liquid to heat, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the liquid reaches a gentle boil, carefully and slowly pour the cream of wheat into the saucepan, making sure it is in a steady stream to avoid clumping.
After the cream of wheat has been added, quickly lower the heat to medium.
As it begins to cook, constantly whisk the mixture for 1-2 minutes.
This will help to ensure a smooth consistency without lumps.
  • Cook the cream of wheat on medium heat for a couple of minutes or until it reaches your desired thickness.
Keep stirring to prevent it from sticking to the saucepan or becoming lumpy.
  • Once the cream of wheat has reached the preferred consistency, remove it from the heat.
Add the vanilla extract, brown sugar or maple syrup, and any additional spices or sweeteners like pumpkin spice, a sprinkle of cinnamon, or a bit of sugar, as per your taste preference.
Serve the finished cream of wheat while it's still warm.
You can also add extra toppings like fresh fruit or nuts if desired.
Enjoy your delicious and comforting homemade cream of wheat!
