Cracker Barrel Breakfast Sausage Recipe

I’ve always thought breakfast sausage should be flavorful, juicy, and just the right balance of spices.
This Cracker Barrel copycat recipe nails it every time!
Grab some ground pork and season it with a mix of spices like sage, thyme, and nutmeg for that signature taste.
To get that slight smoky sensation Cracker Barrel is known for, just add a touch of liquid smoke.
These patties freeze beautifully too, so you can make a batch ahead of time for easy breakfasts!

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Ground Pork
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper ground
  • 1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 tsp Sage dried
  • 1/2 tsp Thyme dried
  • 1/2 tsp Marjoram dried
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg ground
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Liquid smoke
Instructions

  • Combine all the dry spices in a small bowl to make sure they mix evenly throughout.
  • Add the ground pork to a large mixing bowl.
  • Pour the spice mixture over the pork.
  • Using your hands, gently mix the spices into the pork. You want every part to be seasoned well. Add 1/4 tsp of liquid smoke and mix in.
  • Form the mixture into patties of your desired size. For dinners, smaller patties work great, while breakfast ones can be larger.
  • Cook the patties in a skillet over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes per side. Make sure they are cooked through without burning.
