Equipment
  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 small bowl
  • 1 baking dish
Ingredients

  • 4 ¾ cups of flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 tablespoon dry yeast
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • brown sugar and walnuts optional for the filling
  • cream cheese frosting for topping
Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and sugar.
Sprinkle on the dry yeast and let it sit for a minute.
Gradually add 4 cups of flour into the mixture, stirring until well combined.
Cover the bowl and let the dough rest for an hour.
  • Once the dough has rested, add ¾ cup of flour, baking powder, and salt into the bowl.
Stir until it forms a soft dough.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Roll the prepared dough into a 12x18 inch rectangle on the floured surface.
Make sure it is even in thickness.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon, brown sugar, and walnuts (if using).
Spread this mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough.
  • Starting from one of the longer sides, carefully roll the dough into a log shape.
Use a sharp knife to cut the log into 1-inch thick slices.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray and set it aside.
  • Arrange the sliced rolls in the prepared baking dish, allowing some space for them to expand during baking.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
  • Remove the cinnamon rolls from the oven and allow them to cool slightly.
Once slightly cooled, top them with your desired amount of cream cheese frosting.
