Prepare your green beans by trimming the ends.
Rinse them under cold water.
Set them aside for now.
In a large pan, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until it turns crisp.
Use a slotted spoon to remove the bacon from the pan and drain it on a paper towel.
Leave the bacon fat in the pan.
Add the chopped onion to the same pan.
Cook the onions in the bacon fat until they become soft and translucent.
Stir occasionally to avoid burning.
Add the trimmed green beans to the pan with the onions.
Pour in the chicken broth and sprinkle in the garlic powder.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes or until the green beans are tender.
Serve with the crispy bacon sprinkled on top.
