- Preheat your griddle or skillet over medium heat. 
- Add olive oil to coat the surface. 
- In a bowl, mix paprika, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and onion powder. 
- Rub this spice mixture over both sides of the chicken breasts. 
- Place the seasoned chicken on the griddle. 
- Cook each side for about 5-7 minutes or until fully cooked. 
- While the chicken is cooking, toast the Texas toast on the griddle with a light coating of butter. 
- Let each side turn a golden brown. 
- When the chicken is nearly done, place American cheese slices on each breast to melt. 
- Layer the chicken and cheese between the toasted bread slices. 
- Serve immediately.
