Add olive oil to a large saucepan, and heat it up over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, it is time to add in the diced onion and garlic.
Sauté the onion and garlic for a couple of minutes, or until you notice that the onion is soft and the garlic is fragrant.
You may need to adjust the temperature if you notice that the garlic is browning.
Add in the ground beef and give the mixture a good stir, making sure to break up the meat using a wooden spoon.
Cook the meat for about 10 minutes, or until it has developed a nice golden-brown color and released its natural juices.
Season the beef, garlic, and onion mixture with chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, brown sugar, and red chili flakes.
Stir all the ingredients together, making sure that the seasonings blend into the mixture.
Pour in the tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, and broth, and keep stirring the chili until all the ingredients are combined.
Finally, add in the kidney beans while stirring the chili to fully combine all the elements you’ve added.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the chili simmer for at least 25 minutes. Also, remember to leave the pot uncovered.
You also want to stir the chili frequently to prevent the meat and kidney beans from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
After 25 minutes, your Texas Roadhouse chili is done and ready to serve, but as we’ve mentioned, you can always let it cook on low for a bit longer if you want the flavors to be even more intense
