Equipment
  • 1 large pot
  • 1 tablespoon
  • 1 large cast-iron skillet
  • 1 Plate
Ingredients

  • 4 whole 6-ounce strip steaks
  • Jumbo Shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter divided
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pasta of your choice
  • Salted water for boiling pasta
  • Garlic and Herb Butter Steak optional
Instructions

  • Gather all the necessary ingredients and have them ready before starting the cooking process.
Ensure your strip steaks and jumbo shrimp are completely thawed and patted dry.
  • In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.
Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.
Before draining, reserve about a cup of starchy pasta water for later use.
  • Season the strip steaks with salt and pepper on both sides.
You can also rub the steaks with homemade or store-bought garlic and herb butter for extra flavor.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet or another heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat.
Add 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet and allow it to melt.
Place the seasoned steaks in the skillet and sear each side for about 4-5 minutes or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
Once cooked, transfer the steaks to a plate and set aside.
  • Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and minced garlic in the same skillet.
Cook the garlic until fragrant, about a minute.
Add the jumbo shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are cooked through.
  • Lower the heat and add the cooked pasta to the skillet, stirring gently to combine with the shrimp.
Gradually add a bit of the reserved pasta water (as needed) to create a light sauce that coats the pasta.
Serve the surf and turf pasta alongside the cooked strip steaks for a delicious and satisfying meal.
