You can also line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and sugar until well combined.
Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips and half of the chopped pecans.
Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish.
Spread the caramel sauce evenly over the batter.
Sprinkle the remaining pecans over the caramel layer.
Pour the remaining brownie batter over the top and spread evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean with a few moist crumbs.
Allow cooling before cutting into squares.
