Equipment
  • baking sheet
  • pan or skillet
  • microwave oven
Ingredients

  • ½ cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tbsp butter (optional but recommended)
  • 1 Package active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 1 tsp olive oil
Instructions

  • Select a mixing bowl and add sugar, yeast, and water. A large mixing bowl would be ideal since the mixture is prone to spilling.
  • Stir the mix for about five to seven minutes till it looks more even.
  • Grab your flour and gradually add your yeast mix to it.
  • You can also add some salt while you add the mix.
  • Mix in some water to the flour and yeast if you need to improve the consistency.
  • It should take 5-10 minutes to put it together and create a soft dough.
  • Now, take a different bowl and grease it with olive oil.
  • Make sure that you coat the bowl’s insides properly to avoid sticking.
  • Place the dough inside the vessel and cover it.
  • Next, leave the bowl to rest in a cool and dry place for just under an hour.
  • Once the dough sets, turn on your oven. Preheat the device to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Meanwhile, you can start working on shaping your bread.
  • Before you take the dough out, grease your countertop with some oil.
  • Place the dough on the counter and punch it until it flattens.
  • Make sure you are gentle and use no other utensils than your hands.
  • The dough should flatten into a thin square.
  • You can also use some flour to get the correct shape and thickness.
  • Next, cut the dough into even pieces using a knife. Finally, take each piece and shape it as you please.
  • You can twist it, make long, spiral logs, or chop it up to create smaller buns. You can even use cookie cutters if you want to make cute shapes.
  • Repeat this process for the rest of the pieces before grabbing your baking pan.
  • Like the other surfaces, carefully grease the baking pan and place the dough balls.
  • All you need to do now is put the pan in the oven and let it bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • Once the time is up, take out the pan and stick a fork in the bread. If it comes back out clean and non-sticky, the bread should be done.
