Equipment
  • 1 Paper towel
  • 1 Large skillet
Ingredients

  • 1 pound uncooked large 41-50 count peeled and deveined shrimp tails removed
  • 1/4 cup white rice flour
  • 1/3 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 1 Scotch bonnet pepper seeded and minced (optional for spiciness)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 lime juiced
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions

  • First, prepare the shrimp by deveining and removing the tails.
Pat them dry with a paper towel and set them aside.
  • Combine the white rice flour, cayenne pepper, freshly ground black pepper, dried thyme, ground allspice and brown sugar in a shallow bowl or plate.
Mix everything well to create a seasoning blend for the shrimp.
Dredge the shrimp in the seasoning mixture, making sure they are thoroughly coated.
Set the coated shrimp aside while you prepare the other ingredients.
  • Heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat in a large skillet or pan.
Add the minced garlic and sliced onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes or until the onion becomes translucent.
If using, add the minced Scotch bonnet pepper and cook for an additional minute to release its flavor.
  • Add the coated shrimp to the pan, and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until the shrimp turns pink and is cooked through.
Pour the chicken broth into the pan and let it simmer for 4-5 minutes, allowing the liquid to reduce and the flavors to meld together.
Finally, stir in the lime juice and adjust the seasoning with additional salt and pepper if desired.
  • Turn off the heat, sprinkle the dish with chopped fresh parsley and serve your delicious Jamaican-style black pepper shrimp.
Enjoy this Caribbean-inspired dish from the Cheesecake Factory in the comfort of your own home.
