Equipment
  • 1 large soup
Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef or substitute with ground turkey
  • 1 large yellow onion chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic minced
  • 2 tsp salt Kosher salt if available
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 can 14.5 oz diced tomatoes
  • 1 can 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 can 6 oz tomato paste
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tbsp hot pepper sauce like Tabasco or to taste
  • diced hot peppers Optional
  • 2 cans 16 oz each of your choice of Bush Beans products (Chili Beans, Mild Kidney Beans, Pinto Beans, or Mixed Beans)
  • shredded cheese, sour cream, and chopped green onions Optional toppings
Instructions

  • Start by heating a large soup pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
Add the ground beef, breaking it into smaller pieces as it cooks.
If you're using ground turkey, add 2 tsp of oil to the pot first.
  • Cook until the meat is browned, and then drain any excess grease.
Now add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the meat and cook until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant, about 3 minutes.
Season the meat mixture with salt, chili powder, cumin, and black pepper.
  • If you'd like a spicier chili, feel free to add some diced hot peppers or hot sauce at this point.
Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste, combining well.
Pour in 2 cups of water, and mix thoroughly.
Bring the mixture to a simmer, and let it cook for about 15 minutes.
After the chili has simmered, it's time to add the beans.
Drain the cans of beans, and add them to your chili.
  • Cook for another 15 minutes, allowing the beans to meld with the flavors of the chili.
At this point, taste the chili, and adjust seasoning as desired.
If the chili is too thick, you can add a bit more water.
If it's too thin, let it simmer for an additional few minutes to thicken.
  • Once your desired consistency is reached, remove the chili from the heat.
Serve it hot, garnished with your choice of toppings, such as shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions.
Now you know how to prepare a delicious Bush Beans Chili quickly and easily in your own kitchen.
Enjoy this flavorful and satisfying meal with family or friends.
