Equipment
  • 1 medium-sized saucepan
  • 1 blender
Ingredients

  • 2 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 1 ¼ cups sugar
  • 6 oz. honey
  • 6 oz. mustard
  • 2 oz. ketchup
  • 3 oz. hot sauce such as Frank's Red-Hot or Texas Pete
  • 1 can 6 oz. crushed pineapple
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke optional, for BBQ flavor
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions

  • Combine the apple cider vinegar, sugar, honey, mustard, ketchup, hot sauce, and crushed pineapple in a medium-sized saucepan.
Mix well to ensure that all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • Place the saucepan on the stove over medium heat.
Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking or burning.
  • Once the sauce has reached a boiling point, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 30 minutes.
Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.
This step allows the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
  • If you are using liquid smoke for a BBQ sauce flavor, add it in during the last 5 minutes of the simmering process.
Stir well to incorporate the smoky flavor into the sauce.
This step is optional and can be skipped if you prefer a regular hot sauce.
  • After the sauce has simmered, taste it and adjust the seasoning with additional salt, pepper, or hot sauce as needed to achieve the perfect balance of flavors that suits your taste buds.
  • If you want a smoother sauce, let it cool slightly before carefully transferring it to a food processor or blender.
Pulse or blend until the desired consistency is achieved.
This step is also optional and can be skipped if you prefer a chunkier sauce.
Now you have your homemade Boss Sauce ready to use!
Store it in an airtight container, and enjoy the versatile, sweet, tangy, and savory flavor it adds to your dishes like burgers, ribs, chicken tenders, baked potatoes, and more.
