Equipment
  • Large saucepan
  • whisk
Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • 1 cup full-fat milk
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
Instructions

  • Heat some butter in a large saucepan over medium-low heat. Add minced garlic once the butter melts and starts to sizzle. Fry it for about a minute.
  • Add flour and whisk it on low heat until it’s well combined.
  • Gradually pour the milk and whisk vigorously. Make sure there are no lumps and whisk in the chicken broth for a nice flavor. Simmer the mixture for a couple of minutes until it thickens.
  • Add shredded Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until the cheese melts and the sauce reaches your desired consistency. If you like it thicker feel free to add more cheese, but don’t overdo it. Pro tip: the sauce will further thicken once it cools. Keep this in mind while you let it simmer. If it ends up too thick just add a splash of broth.
