Cracker Barrel Spinach Recipe

Cracker Barrel’s spinach is the kind of side dish that never gets left unfinished on the plate.
It’s creamy, buttery, and just the right amount of cheesy—exactly what you want when you need something rich and hearty.
One thing that really makes this dish work is how well the spinach blends into the sauce instead of just sitting in it.
Overcooked spinach turns stringy, while undercooked leaves can feel tough, so timing matters when getting it into the mix.
A little nutmeg gives the sauce an extra boost without overpowering anything.

  • 1/2 tsp Salt

  • Drain any excess water well.
  • In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent, about 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Add the steamed spinach to the skillet with onions.

  • Reduce the heat to low and mix in the heavy cream.
  • Cook for about 2 minutes, allowing the cream to heat and blend with the spinach.

  • Cover the skillet and let the cheese melt for about 2 minutes.
  • Serve warm.
